HealthCare Ventures is a leading venture capital firm specializing in life science industry investing. At HealthCare Ventures we concentrate our investment dollars on life science companies showing high growth potential. Since 1985, we have maintained a constant objective to support entrepreneurs and to generate above average returns for our limited partners.
Over the past 22 years, HealthCare Ventures has raised $1.6 billion in eight funds. We have invested in a total of 84 companies, 52 of which were start-ups. Of the companies we have invested in, 22 have become public and 23 have been acquired by or merged into public companies. Notable HealthCare Ventures investments include public companies such as Advancis Pharmaceutical Corp., Critical Therapeutics, Dendreon Pharmaceuticals, Diversa Corp., Human Genome Sciences, LeukoSite, MedImmune, NitroMed, OraSure, Replidyne, Inc., Shire Pharmaceuticals, and Vicuron Pharmaceuticals.
At HealthCare Ventures we invest primarily in early-stage companies. We open new avenues of research, build companies capable of developing novel products that will change the practice of medicine, and improve pharmaceutical product manufacturing. We do this by identifying the underlying science that can lead to these changes and then building a management team that has the knowledge, experience and drive to develop the business.
